Despite an agreement on fuel with importers, the rouleurs unions (small entrepreneurs who transport nickel ore on behalf of mining companies) and the construction industry blocked the Noumea fuel depots for three days in mid-August to protest against the rise in diesel prices, which, they believe, threatens their activity.
