The new Holded entrepreneurial ecosystem won since 2016 an estimate of 190 million euros.
Javi Fondevila and Bernat Ripoll founded Holded in 2016 as a cloud software specialized in the management of SMEs and freelancers.
The more than 80,000 clients that they attracted in just 5 years and the fundraising of 26 million dollars (22 million euros in exchange) that they got from Spanish and international funds, attracted the attention of several business groups that were interested in the Catalan startup.
Finally, it was the Norwegian Visma who ended up materializing the operation. It was closed in June 2021 for 190 million euros and, since then, Holded has been part of one of the main European operators in the field of software services.

“We were not selling the company, nor was it part of our plans, but we listened to them and finally sold,” says Fondevila. “As a founder, when you accept that you are going to sell your business it is very complicated and very hard to back down. If you are in the right place and both parties want to close the deal, there is nothing that can prevent it.”
Holded maintains its independent structure with Fondevila and Ripoll at the head of the team. Thanks to this transaction, its founders emphasize that they will be able to have enough muscle to consolidate themselves as a benchmark in the market, especially in the small and medium-sized companies sector.
“My role and my commitment have not changed. We continue to maintain the independence of the company and fight for every customer. We want to stay there while Holded grows and achieves new milestones”" adds Fondevila.
