Telecaster Bill Turnbull, who kicked the bucket on Wednesday, is notable for his 15-year spell at BBC Breakfast, yet what was less known broadly was his obligation to League One football club Wycombe Wanderers.

Turnbull, who was determined to have prostate disease in 2018, had seriously loved the Buckinghamshire club for over 20 years.

His affiliation began in 2001 when he was living close by in Beaconsfield and saw the Chairboys get to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with just Liverpool preventing them from arriving at the last in Cardiff.

Director Gareth Ainsworth says he is "crushed" at the insight about Turnbull's demise.

Ainsworth expressed even after his determination Turnbull "never raised a ruckus".

"He was consistently at games when he could be, messaging me after games, ringing me after games, I was fortunate to have him in my life."
