The British economy recorded its lowest annual growth rate in over seven years in November after a sharp drop in activity, official statistics released on Tuesday showed.
Annual growth in gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 0.6% in November over a year, a figure in line with the expectations of economists polled by Reuters, against 1.0% (revised from 0.7%) in October.
This is its lowest level since June 2012.
In November alone, GDP fell 0.3%, its largest decline since April.
The National Statistics Office (ONS) also announced that the trade deficit had reached its lowest level since 2005 at 5.256 billion pounds sterling (6.13 billion euros) in November against 10.95 billion pounds in October.
Economists polled by Reuters predicted an average deficit of £ 11.70 billion.
