We talk to the new signing of Toyota Gazoo Racing as preparations begin for the 2020 WRC season with their new team.

Q. You have already done your first tests, what is it like to board the Toyota Yaris?
A. It was really good, everything I expected it to be. In France, when I tried, it was my first time in the car since 2016. In 2016 I drove only the initial test, this is a totally different act. The Yaris is really fast. I have a lot to learn from the aero and the central differential, coming from the R5 car, there are many things we must learn. I really want to do more with the car, there are many more adjustments that I can make. The team engineers were great, they all worked really well and helped me as a new pilot to come to the team.

Q. What is the target for 2020?
A. There is not much for me to set goals. I want to learn the call early in the year, just being relaxed in the first four or five events. I always want to be fast. I just want to start showing the speed and compete with the guys. We will need experience, but I want to be quick by the end of the season.

Q. What does it feel like to be a 19-year-old world champion?
A. It feels good. There was a lot of pressure this season. It's not that nice when everyone thinks it's so easy (WRC 2 Pro Championship). We showed the pace in the summer and won four rounds in a row. There was a slight mistake in Germany, but it's good that it happened right now - it was a small note of pace note, but it's better than this now and not the World Rally Car. After two years, I had a good time with Skoda, they are like a factory team with the R5 car. I leave a good team and a lot of nice people.

Q. However, the beginning of the season was not the easiest ...
A. It wasn't that good, but I always knew the reasons. There were a lot of things, my own mistakes, then some things about moving to a new team, like in Corsica, there were some problems with the car parts and configuration. I knew my skills had not disappeared, it was only a bad event at the beginning of the season for reasons we couldn't affect.

Q. Did Chile change things?
A. This was my first time with Toksport. I really enjoyed it and that proved when the team is doing what we ask. It was good for us to win the first rally of the season and also for Toksport: I like this team too, they are really professional.

Q. And is it good to win at home, in the Neste Rally Finland?
A very good one! There were some quick guys in R5 performances, but they had some issues and we had a clean rally. I didn't need to press so much after the second or third leg. It was nice to be able to enjoy the rally at home, enjoy the jumps and not push too much.
