Angarsk "Ermak" lost the mathematical chances of reaching the playoffs and tournament motivation

"Ermak" lost the mathematical chances of reaching the playoffs of the championship of the Higher Hockey League, where the champion of the VHL of this season is determined. The lag of the Angara people from the last guaranteeing place in the playoffs of the Karaganda “Saryarka” is now 25 points, while the “orange” will be able to earn only 24 points until the end of the season.

Until January 15, Ermak was in limbo. Any defeat of the Angarians deprived them of a chance to reach the playoffs, and the “orange” would have remained without participation in the second part of the season if “Saryarka” had gained one point. In the match against the Moscow "Star", the Karaganda team lost in overtime, thereby gaining one point. Now Yermak has lost tournament motivation this season.

To date, "Ermak" takes the last 16th place in the standings of the conference № 2 VHL. The closest rival - Izhevsk HC Izhstal going on the 15th line - was 10 points away from the Angars. The next “orange” game will be held today, January 16, at home against the Chelyabinsk Chelmet.

The season in the VHL is divided into two parts - the regular championship and the playoffs. During the regular championship, teams play with each other, earn points (2 points for victory, 1 point for defeat in overtime or in a series of shootouts and 0 points for defeat in regular time), 16 teams with the most points go to the second stage competition - playoffs. In the playoffs, teams play for the relegation according to the cup system (1/8 finals, quarter finals, semifinals and finals) and determine the league champion and Petrov Cup winner this season.

"Ermak" can not get into the playoffs for the second season in a row.
