Split TF1 Bruce Willis appears end film? Split, the thriller of M. Night Shyamalan is broadcast this evening on TF1, on this occasion discover the reason why Bruce Willis only appears at the end of the film.

If you are discovering Split for the first time this evening, stay in front of your television until the end ...

Accustomed to twist endings, M. Night Shyamalan ends his film with a scene that will change everything. Because Split is not really what it seems. Beyond the story of Kevin (James McAvoy) and his 24 personalities including the terrible Beast, Split is directly linked to another film by the director released in 2000, Unbreakable, and we discover it during the final scene. In a cafe, customers watch television news about The Beast and David Dunn (Bruce Willis) appears. It was therefore necessary to wait until the very end to understand that Split is the second part of the Unbreakable trilogy of M. Night Shyamalan.

During the promotion of his film in 2000, Mr. Night Shyamalan confides his intention to make Unbreakable the first part of a trilogy. But the rather disappointing results (248 million dollars at the international box office for 75 million budget) of the feature film carried by Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson are right about this project. At least that's what we thought until February 2017 (date of release from Split).

A box office trilogy

Announced in 2001 before being envisaged as a television series then finally abandoned, Unbreakable 2 seems definitively abandoned in 2010. But the director of Sixième sens keeps hope and the desire to make his trilogy in a corner of his head.

In 2015, Split goes into production and the director decides to add a last scene making the link between this film and Unbreakable. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shyamalan explains: "I kept the last scene secret for a long time, besides it did not appear in the script. Just in case it doesn't work. Bruce agreed to appear, as a favor, and I said to him, "If the film works, we'll have to talk to each other fairly quickly."

Split having totaled $ 278 million at the international box office for a budget of 9 million (against 75 million for Unbreakable), Glass was able to see the light of day and be seen for what it was from the start: the conclusion of the trilogy Unbreakable. On the other hand, if Split had not had the expected results, this final coup would have been seen as a nod to Unbreakable. Smart isn't it?
