Twenty-four-year-old Ledecká is the first competitor to win the World Cup ski and snowboard race in one season. In Lake Louise, Canada, she celebrated her ski triumph in December. Cross-country skiing in Nové Město na Moravě without admission. Organizers want to lure viewers

It has a long history, but it's not as famous as it used to be. The Golden Ski in Nové Město na Moravě is again the World Cup and the best cross-country skiers will present themselves in Vysočina. The question is, how many fans will arrive - in recent years, thousands have flowed there, but only if they could watch mountain bike races or biathletes from the stands.

You will not hear shots from rimfire rifles or loud crashes as a celebration of the downed target in the Vysočina Arena this weekend.

“It is nice that it is here in the Czech Republic after several years. I am curious how many people will come, ”says Petra Nováková for Radiožurnál.

“I have no guess, I find it funny that they have built the entire grandstand like a biathlon, which I think may be a little comical if it isn't full. We will see, perhaps people will surprise and many will arrive, ”adds Nováková.

The grand stadiums are already ready to fill up in the March World Cup

The weekend runners' races will probably have a lot more free space around them, but the organizers are doing everything they can to keep the backdrop at least dignified. For example, you will not pay a crown for a ticket to the Vysočina arena on Saturday or Sunday.

“We did it deliberately, because we think it's important that the audience come in and that makes cross-country skiing a bit more popular. My guess is pessimistic, I would be wrong, ”says the organizing committee head Jiří Hamza, who expects about three thousand spectators. Of course he wouldn't be angry if there were significantly more of them.

On Saturday there will be two distance races - the women's 10 km freestyle race will start at 9.45 am, the first man will set out on a 15-kilometer course at 11.15 am.
