Oscars 2019 Joker movie top nominations, "Les Misérables" remains in the race. The Academy of Oscars has just announced the nominees for the ceremony on February 9.

And the winner is ... "Joker"! This Monday starting at 2:18 p.m. precisely, the Academy of Oscars announced the list of the nominees for the ceremony which will take place next February 9 in Los Angeles. Todd Phillips' "Joker" tops the list with no fewer than eleven citations.

But Batman's emblematic enemy is followed by three films which each combine ten nominations: "The Irishman" by Martin Scorsese, "1917" by Sam Mendes and "Once upon a time ... in Hollywood" by Quentin Tarantino.

Other big winners of these nominations: "Parasite" by Bong Joon Ho, "Marriage story" by Noah Baumbach, "Les Filles du docteur March" by Greta Gerwig and "Jojo Rabbit" by Taika Waititi each record six citations. They are ahead of “Le Mans 66” by James Mangold (five nominations). Unsurprisingly, we therefore find in this list the feature films that were celebrated during the Golden Globes on January 6… and at the Cannes festival last May.

Other French in the running…

The French carve out a nice place for themselves in these nominations: Ladj Ly's “Les Misérables” continues its race since the drama is one of the five films competing for the category of best foreign film, to the delight of its director present Monday at the César revelations evening at the Petit Palais: “I was giving a lesson at school (Kourtrajmé, Editor's note) when I learned about selection at the Oscars. We exploded with joy. We know that against Parasite, we have very little chance of winning, but representing France is already huge. Like making 1.8 million admissions when we hoped for 200,000 or 300,000. I hope this film will make young people think: I started from the bottom ... a committed, political film with a message. Am I going to prepare a speech? Yes, because I suck in English! ", Said the Frenchman. The road will not be easy, however, because he will have to face the fearsome “Parasite” by Bong Joon Ho and “Pain and glory” by Pedro Almodóvar…

Other French artists will have the chance to brandish a golden statuette in Hollywood on February 9. With "I lost my body", the director Jérémy Clapain is nominated for the best animated film. Bruno Collet and Jean-François Le Corre could win the Oscar for best animated short film (with "Memorable"), while Yves Piat and Damien Megherbi are in the running for the Oscar for best short film with " Nefta Football Club ". Finally, composer Alexandre Desplat won his eighth Oscar nomination for the music for “Daughters of Doctor March”.

It's also time for revenge for Netflix, which left almost empty-handed from the Golden Globes. This time, the platform has 21 nominations, thanks to its locomotives "The Irishman" and "Marriage story", but also to the film "The Two Popes", to the animated film "Klaus" and to its documentary "American factory" .

If the film "JOKER" gets something at the 92nd edition of the Oscars to be held on February 9 in Los Angeles, it will unfortunately not be the first time that a stupid, unhealthy and childish film is rewarded at what it is agreed to call the greatest cinematographic awards worldwide. As for France, it is to be hoped that its "MISÉRABLES", whose director should urgently go to India or any other underdeveloped country to see what poverty really is, it is to be hoped that they move and be forgotten, unless of course their greatest pleasure is to complain and show their suffering.
