They also have powers of hygiene and even police over traffic and parking. "There is also prevention, we can make calls to order on small infractions," explains Laurent Gasparet, the manager of the new brigade of PMA nature guards. He comes from Grand Belfort, he was a country keeper for 17 years.
Device financed by PMA and rural communes
"This service will really simplify the life of the mayor," insists Pierre Aimée Giradot, delegated councilor. "They will patrol the towns, they can intervene at the request of the mayor". The municipalities pay an annual fee: from 200 euros for the smallest to 5,000 euros for the largest. Knowing that PMA supports more than two thirds of the service budget, just over 500,000 euros per year for its operation.
Guillaume, ex-municipal officer
"We are already approached by several mayors for wild dumps or wandering animals as well," said Guillaume, ex-public watchdog for the town of Mandeure and nature guard for several weeks.
Franck, former cleaning service agent
Franck is preparing to follow the training to become a country gardener. He left the cleaning department of PMA. "We have lots of courses on the environment, the forest code, the highway code, everything that is writing minutes also".
Quentin, ex-municipal policeman
"The stake of the community of communes interested me, to work on 44 communes it was interesting, it is wider", explains Quentin, one of these new nature guards recruited by PMA. Until now, he was a municipal police officer in Grenoble.
