Star Wars fans, who have long dreamed of piloting the Millennium Falcon, will now have this chance when the gates to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland will open on Friday.
The central theme of the new theme park theme is Han Solo's iconic ship, docked in the middle of the Batuu Black Spire Outpost. Here, not only will the guests be able to take their photo with a massive replica of the iconic ship, more than 100 feet long, they will try to fly.
Six groups will climb the Falcon in Falcon Millennium: Smugglers Run, a new trip - a pilot, co-pilot, two gunmen and two engineers. They have to work together - switches and push buttons - and how well they will do this will determine whether they will return to the port unharmed or with a few hits.
"When you can give people an immersive experience, what Disneyland was designed to be first, but something as rich as this, which increases the whole experience for people in ways that we do not think we imagined when we did not have the resources technology, "said CEO Bob Iger on Wednesday for Julia Boorstin, CNBC. "And so I think, more than anything else, people will be worried about how rich the experience is here."
A Disney trailer released on Wednesday Wednesday gives a glimpse of the ride and teases long-lasting sci-fi fans with photos of guests taking the iconic ship to light.
"I think Disney has done a fantastic job of expanding their parks in general," said Brett Harriss, an analyst at Gabelli Funds, who said on Thursday at CNBC Squawk Box.
"They do an excellent job using the immersive experience of leading the engagement," he added.
Here's how fans who received a fake top of the new park before it opened responded to Batu's visit:
