Marcus Smart eye infection has seen worse doctors, according to Brad Stevens - Marcus Smart eye infection worst doctors!

Marcus Smart is nowhere near a comeback, according to Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics. When asked if Smart's persistent eye infection is better, Stevens responded with a quick "no."

Tonight's game against the Detroit Pistons will be the fifth straight game Smart will miss with eye infection. Stevens clarified that Smart could be progressively progressing, it does not appear that progress would be very fast.

"The last report I received, they didn't think they saw such a bad thing," Stevens said. "She really has had a really bad time. So I don't know when she'll be back. She's not around yet."

The team has not given an exact cause of the infection. It originally started in one eye, but has since spread to both. The original diagnosis caused Smart to lose up to 10 days, but it is clear that this will miss more than that. Danny Ainge told 98.5 toucher & Rich that he expected Smart to return for Christmas, but that can be optimistic.

The Celtics have low hand already, and Gordon Hayward missed the Piston game with foot pain. The Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier centers are also out for a few weeks with injuries to the hip and fingers, respectively.

One positive thing is that Boston's upcoming opponents are also struggling with injuries. Detroit probably won't have Blake Griffin, Luke Kennard and Christian Wood tonight. The Toronto Raptors, Boston's Christmas Day opponent, could be without Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol. The Celtics face the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
