Because of kryptonite: Liverpool beats Manchester United 2-0!
A submission from goalkeeper Alisson brought the decision against Manchester United. Liverpool's super team cannot be stopped by their supposedly greatest weakness on the way to the championship.
Scene of the game: Alisson Becker saw Mohamed Salah lurking on the center line and hit the ball out of his hand. The striker accepted the tee, sprinted across the field with the ball at his foot and scored 2-0 for Liverpool FC. Alisson couldn't hold on and sprinted along the length of the lawn to hug Salah. Both were unstoppable in their sprints - like Liverpool FC currently in the league.
Run Boy Run: "I saw him run," said Jürgen Klopp about Alisson: "I think if you score a goal that makes sense." Then he praised the entire team. "The boys show so much passion, the biggest heart I've ever seen. That makes us successful."

Storm calm: The worst news of the day for United, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announced before the game. Top striker Marcus Rashford will be missing his team for weeks and will probably only be able to play again in February. The attacker injured his back in the FA Cup against Wolverhampton a few days ago. A look at the statistics shows how serious the failure is: Rashford scored 14 goals in 22 games in the current league season. When United played 1-1 in the first half against Liverpool, Rashford took the lead - this time the lucky charm was missing.
Squeezed: United indicated an early pressing against Liverpool's build-up game, Anthony Martial briefly chased Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez even into the Reds' penalty area. United's tactics, however, increasingly fizzled out because not all team members exerted enough pressure. In addition, Liverpool's defenders can deal with the pressing against their own development game quite well, given the style of play they practice every day.
The usury's first part: The Reds were the superior team and came to the lead after a corner kick: Trent Alexander-Arnold crossed to Virgil van Dijk and he headed to 1-0 (14th). After that, Liverpool showed its strength. Especially the wing play over Sadio Mané and Andrew Robertson, who obviously understand each other blindly, worked splendidly. Liverpool scored twice for the supposed 2-0. First Roberto Firmino's goal was not recognized due to a previous foul on goalkeeper de Gea, then an offside position prevented Georginio Wijnaldum's goal after a wonderful combination. On the other hand, Andreas Pereira just missed the equalizer shortly before the break.
Superman's weakness: Of course, Liverpool was the favorite. Statistics had given Manchester United hope: of the last eleven league games against Liverpool, only one had been lost. Sports analyst Opta even referred to United as Liverpool's "kryptonite". United cannot weaken the super team this season either, as the second half showed.
The usury's second part: After the restart, the game was furious. Liverpool could have pulled away with two or three goals. First Mohamed Salah shot himself, then goalkeeper de Gea directed a shot from Jordan Henderson to the post. Without Marcus Rashford, United was not consistent enough to punish the lack of opportunities. Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira missed their opportunities. Even when United had around 85 percent possession of the ball within the final five minutes, the shot remained undecided. In the last minute Alisson hit the ball on Salah, the rest is known.
Series shooters: Chances missed or not - with goals against United, Liverpool have now scored in all 22 league games of the season. Most recently, FC Arsenal had succeeded in the 2001/2002 season, when the Londoners became champions.
On the master track: Liverpool is now 16 points ahead of Manchester City and is well on the way to becoming English champion again after 30 years. The Reds have won 21 out of 22 games and a game less than City. In other words, they are unlikely to give the title out of hand. Liverpool's championship would not come as a surprise, but anything else would be a sensation.
