The roles of the Refuge in France and in the Doubs

Since 2003, Le Refuge has welcomed young women and men aged 18 to 25 who are isolated because of their sexual or gender orientation. The 1901 law association has been approved by the State since January 2007 and recognized as a public utility by decree of August 16, 2011. The Refuge offers temporary accommodation, social and psychological support, listening and family mediation, as well as interventions in schools.

Since its creation on December 8, 2014, the Doubs du Refuge delegation has offered homosexual, bisexual and transgender young people support through help lines.

Since May 2016, she has been offering temporary accommodation in her relay apartment to allow them to rebuild. Young people are safe from need, surrounded by people who care about them and do not judge them. Young people decide for themselves whether or not to return to their families. The association also helps them find work and accommodation.

Twenty volunteers make up the Doubs team. For the moment, three young people can be accommodated simultaneously in the Besançon apartment. In 2019, around 900 nights were offered, as well as various cultural and sporting activities supervised by volunteers.
