The morale of large French companies is looking good. In its 2020 edition, the EuroGroup Consulting barometer for BFM Business shows the bosses of large groups who are very confident at the start of the year.
Despite social movements in France and international crises, 7 out of 10 managers display their optimism about the development of their activity in 2020.
"The fundamentals on which the big bosses have worked for a certain number of years are there, the fundamentals around their industrial tool, the quality of their workforce, the training they have given, the quality of the workforce which is recognized, all the fundamentals are there ", comments on the set of Good Morning Business, Gilles Bonnenfant, president of EuroGroup Consulting.
Large French companies manifest high morale
"Our infrastructure too is something strong at European level, the cost of energy, which are all elements that give this capacity to invest and continue this strength that our companies have in France", continues -he.
An optimism based on very promising economic indicators, as explained by BFM Business columnist Emmanuel Lechypre: "Our large French companies do not see any slowdown in economic activity happening in 2020. If we take all the main indicators of the dashboard, profitability, activity, investment, employment ... on all these aspects, the indicators are better or less as good as they were a year ago. "
Small nuance nevertheless, the investment. "There is a little, slightly lesser trend in industrial investment in France. There is rather a backlash with the end of happy offshoring. We see that in services, mutuals, companies "Insurance, we are in the process of bringing back back-offices that we had sent a little too far (...), we have this movement which, moreover, is not only French," adds Gilles Bonnenfant.
A confidence that should translate into hiring: a third of them are preparing to recruit this year. "We see the effect of the reforms pushed by the government since 2017, that is to say a certain assurance in recruitment. We had a little doubt at a time about what was going to happen on the labor court, I think that the conclusions of last summer reassure the leaders on the fact that finally, one can hire and one can have a fluctuation of the employees in the companies ", underlines the expert.
A confidence of large companies which contrasts with the pessimism of their employees. With 80% distrust, the economic morale of the French is at its lowest according to the Odoxa barometer of January.

Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid coach, underlined the competitive attitude of his team against Atlético de Madrid, in a new final defined in favor: "We are all here, we know what we play, all week we let's work well and prepare the matches well. It is true that it is said that the finals are won. In this club, we are like that, we always believe in what we do. At rest, we had some discomfort because we did not know how to score goals. To have a great final, you have to have two good teams. You have to believe it to the end and that's what we did. "
