"You have a risk, you have to be willing to take risks, if you have a risk-free business idea, it has probably already been done," he said, according to Amazon. "You must have something that may not work, it will be, in many ways, an experiment."
Many of these experiments will fail, but "big failures" are a necessary part of the way to success, he said.
"We take risks all the time, we talk about failure," he said. "We need big failures to move things, if it were not, we would not have done enough, you will work hard and you will fail, but that's good."
Bezos founded Amazon in 1995 with only 10 employees. Since then, it has become one of the most valuable listed companies with a market capitalization of nearly $ 860,000 million (just over 760,000 million euros).
The Amazon CEO has stressed that, in addition to risks and failures, entrepreneurs must also be passionate.
"You will be in competition with those passionate," he said.
Above all, Bezos said, business owners should be "obsessed with the customer."
"The most important thing is to be obsessed with the client," he said. "Do not satisfy them, give them all pleasure."
