Free Now integrates rental shared cars application in another step towards multimodality - Free Now will incorporate Share Now into your app. It will do so from the end of this month, when users in France, Germany, Spain and Italy can book their carpooling trips directly through the Free Now, as announced on Monday the company in a statement.
It is a strategic alliance with which both companies seek to join forces to take over the increasingly competitive mobility market. Both emerged from the partnership of Daimler and BMW, they come together to follow a path that many companies in the sector are already opening: to offer customers more and more mobility options.
"This is a big step for our company. Thanks to this agreement, we can offer our service to more people in Germany, France, Spain and Italy. Carpooling has become an integral part of today's urban mobility," said Olivier Reppert, CEO of Share Now.

"We do not see carpooling as competition with other modes of transport, but as another mobility option. In this way, each user can choose the option that best suits their preferences," added Reppert.
A year ago, Jaime Rodrígez de Santiago, director of Free Now in Spain, told that the company aspired to become the preferred application of customers who wanted all possible mobility options available. The pandemic forced a halt to some of these initiatives, but a year later, as Rodríguez announced at the time, Free Now resumes those plans.

It is not the only one that bets on opening up a wide range of options to customers. After exploring the market in 2018 through the experimental platform Uber Rent in San Francisco, USA, last year, just released the new normal post-pandemic, Uber signed up for carsharing in Spain by the Catalan company SocialCar.
But the American company didn't stop there. In September of last year, Bloomberg, citing unidentified sources, revealed that Uber was considering buying the same Free Now. The idea, they then explained in Bloomberg, planned for a time at the company after the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible for Free Now to find new investors.

Finally, the uncertainty that came with the pandemic stopped any progress in negotiating a price.
In Spain, it wasn't long before Cabify did the same. It was in February of this year, after reaching an agreement to ally with WiBLE, when the Spanish startup launched to offer in its application the rental of shared cars.

At Free Now they know they couldn't be left behind: "People are demanding more and more flexibility to travel; a need that has increased even after most restrictions related to the pandemic were lifted and will be met thanks to this agreement with Share Now. We hope to incorporate more companies in the future, " said Free Now CEO Marc Berg.
Free Now is just one of the companies arising from the partnership, agreed two years ago, between Daimler and BMW, a joint venture in which both companies committed to invest in total about 1,000 million euros to enter strongly in the mobility sector.

The other companies that emerged from that agreement were Share Now, which now joins Free Now, Reach Now (for multimodal services), Charge Now (for charging services) and Park Now (for parking services).
Today, according to the company, Free Now has 50 million users in 16 markets and more than 150 cities.
