Fishmongers THREATEN TO GO ON STRIKE, JANUARY 15 as Fishmongers threaten strike 15 January 2020!
The National Union of Fishmongers of Senegal "And Defarat Sunu ligguey" is about to stop, for 72 hours, any service related to the supply of Senegalese fish markets, starting next January 15, if from here this date no solution is brought to their claims.
In other words, fishmongers demanding better working conditions. They therefore ask the authorities to reconsider their decision and measure which encourage refrigerated vehicles to pass by force over the weighbridges, with easily perishable products. The National Organization of Fishmongers made the decision the day before yesterday, on the sidelines of a general meeting to renew its office, held in Kaolack in the presence of representatives from at least 10 regions of the country.
Fishmongers threaten strike 15 January 2020
Despite their decision to renew the office installed seven (7) months before, the Senegalese wholesalers seem to be more concerned about some odd numbers that have hampered their routine activities. Because, beyond even the obligations to go through the weighing points which have no way of being able to exercise this kind of road control (lack of refrigerated rooms or means of recharging the ice in the event of a merger), the Union nationale des mareyeurs also deplored the high cost of professional cards / wholesalers set at 30,000 CFA francs and renewable each year. While, on the other hand, import / export cards and other similar media are set at 20,000 CFA Francs for a validity period of four (4) years.
There is also the issue of fish markets in Senegal. The comrades of President Pope Ibrahima Diaw believe, in fact, that out of the 14 regions of the country, only three (3) fish markets are functional and are still far from meeting the demand for fishery resources.
