Greeff bought his first bitcoin in 2013 and plans to keep it for a long time, despite recent market volatility.

"I don't speculate with cryptocurrencies. I tend to keep them a little longer to overcome volatility, " he says.

"I've told people not to copy my strategy if they're looking for high returns," he adds, although Greeff's portfolio offers an average annual return of almost 30%, according to its website.

4. Greeff believes the pandemic has made it easier for women to start investing

Only 15% of bitcoin investors are women, according to data from eToro, but the company has managed to get new users to join its platform at a faster rate than men in December. Greeff isn't surprised.

"Technology has really allowed more women to invest, even though historically it is a male-dominated industry, because now we are all sitting behind a screen, which has allowed to break those barriers," she says.

Greeff also commented that women have a reputation for being risk averse when investing, but this has its advantages.

"For me, being a woman does not affect my risk tolerance, but it influences my decision-making process. I tend to take a little more time to gather more information, to make sure I have all the data before making a decision," he adds.

Social commerce is Greeff's parallel work; she works as a clinical researcher at the University of Oxford, where she specializes in machine learning. These are the skills you bring to your investment.
