BBVA Spain raises excess account maintenance fees again from 100 to 160 euros - BBVA raises commissions again this June, and this is the second time it has done so in just a few months. In November 2020 it began to charge 100 euros to the least linked customers, now, they will pay 160 euros per year.
The entity chaired by Carlos Torres notified its customers on April 8 of the new requirements to be exempt from this commission, specifically, that the minimum income you must receive in your account each month will now be 800 euros, compared to 600 before.
In the case of pensioners, or those receiving an unemployment benefit should be at least 300 euros. In addition, the customer will now be required to have at least five direct debit charges during the four months prior to the account settlement date.
Or, they have an active debit card with at least 7 movements in the four months prior to settlement. In addition to having some additional product contracted at the bank. These are loans, mortgages, insurance, investment products with a minimum amount of 5,000 euros or have an active credit card and spend at least 200 euros every four months.
All in all, BBVA will charge an account maintenance fee (with quarterly settlement, that is, on March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15) of 40 euros, or 160 euros per year.

Customers and shareholders (who are also affected) have complained insistently over the past two months that the bank has made the decision to further increase the level of bonding at such a harsh time as the pandemic, as many are unable to meet the new requirements.
BBVA thus joins the rest of Spanish banks, which in their great majority have raised commissions at least twice since 2019, an action that they justify with the acceleration of digitalization and the need to link more to their customers, that is, to get them to have several financial products contracted with them.

Precisely for this reason, the banking sector increasingly penalizes basic cash operations, for example, BBVA charges a commission of 2 euros for cash withdrawals at the counter, but if it is done in the cashier it is free. In addition, it charges a commission of 0.4% for transfers made from a branch. If they are immediate 0.5% and if it is urgent, 15 euros.
However, if the same operation is carried out through the web or the mobile app it is completely free. The increasing use of digital channels by customers to the detriment of physical offices has led the bank to put on the table the first Employment Regulation (ERE) File in its history.
It will result in the employment of more than 3,000 workers. In addition, the bank has already announced the closure of more than 530 offices.

Want to save on your electricity bill? This June 1 the stretch from 16 to 17 hours the light will be cheaper, and from 21 to 22 hours the most expensive
After several postponements, months of ads and recommendations for changes in the consumption of the users –who, from FACUA, called “demeaning”, has entered into force, from 00:00 hours of 1 June 2021, the new bill. With the current structure, and if families maintain their previous schedules (in some cases it will be impossible to change them), the energy bill is likely to become more expensive in many homes. It may become convenient to find out each day which time slot will be more expensive and which time slot will be cheaper.
In OMIE-the electricity market operator designated for the management of the daily and intraday electricity market in the Iberian Peninsula– you can consult daily what the price of electricity will be by hours. Specifically, this June 1, 2021, the section in which it will be the most expensive light is from 21:00 to 22:00 hours (€92.54/MWh). On the contrary, the time slot with the cheapest light will be from 16:00 to 17:00 hours (74,10 €/MWh).
The price of electricity today, on average, will stand at € 86.56 / MWh. Slightly below the average €88.98/MWh that marked on May 31, 2021, a figure that was very close to the average historical high of €89.94/MWh, which was reached last January coinciding with the arrival of storm Filomena. On May 28 it also reached a price close to that maximum, with €88.95/MWh, which, fortunately, fell on May 29 (€81.77/MWh) and 30 (€71.93/MWh).
Perhaps in a few months they will be of general knowledge, but, for the moment, it is advisable to keep remembering what the new daylight hours are.
- Peak hours: from 10:00 to 14:00 hours, and from 18:00 to 22: 00 hours.
- Flat hours: from 8:00 to 10:00 hours; from 14:00 to 18:00 hours, and from 22:00 to 24:00 hours.
- Valley hours: from 00:00 to 8: 00 hours and 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Based on this, and the information from OMIE, it is possible to know every day the time slot in which the light will be more expensive and cheaper. And– whenever possible-adapt the greater energy consumption to the albur of this hourly price variation.
