Therefore, and with the aim of offering a professional exit to the military and another profile of candidates to companies, Spain and other countries have programs that try to unite and strengthen both worlds.

In the United States, there are services such as the Transition Assistance Program (TAP), run by the Departments of Defense, Labor, and Veterans Affairs to "assist veterans in all aspects of returning to civilian life," through "financial and legal information, access to specialized transition counselors, and assistance for job seekers."

In France, for its part, they have the Defénse Mobilité program, which helps more than 15,000 soldiers a year move from the army to private business, according to figures from the Ministry of Defense collected by CincoDías.

The Spanish counterpart is the Ministry of Defence's Sapromil (Career Opportunities for members of the Armed Forces) programme, which facilitates the voluntary incorporation of Armed Forces personnel into the civilian labour market.

It is a kind of employment portal of the aforementioned ministry: a platform that manages career opportunities for military personnel and Reservists of Special Availability of any army, corps, scale, specialty and employment through job guidance, specific training and job offers from public and private employers.

In the job offers published in Sapromil— others are of private access-there are salaries that vary between 15,000 euros (for trailer driver) and 39,000 euros gross per year (for Humint technician —Human Intelligence, for its acronym in English: techniques to obtain information from people—).

What can companies that hire military get? "A series of values that, without being exclusive to the military community, prevail in the Organization because they are necessary for the achievement of its goals (...): discipline, a spirit of sacrifice, perseverance, decision-making, a sense of duty and a willingness to serve," the undersecretary lists on the program's website.

In that line, and as a result of its passage through the military life, the Ministry of Defense lists a number of qualities "common to most of them," and that can work in different fields, ranging from the more 'natural' as defence, security and armaments to others as logistics, intelligence, human resources, international agencies, telecommunications, and transportation.

Amazon has since 2017 with 'Militar Hiring', a program focused on hiring military, which includes projects to sign "heroes", veterans, spouses of military and wounded soldiers, among others.

Over the years, Amazon has added to its ranks 605 former members of the Armed Forces in Europe, of whom 47 are Spanish (7% of the total).

While these positions are for any type of profile, they are mainly related to engineering, logistics or people involved in humanitarian missions, and have salaries between 50,000 and 200,000 euros net per year, reports Nius.

ACK3 presents itself as a leading company with more than 10 years of experience in risk and security consulting that carries out works mainly in the United Arab Emirates and in Latin America.

It is one of the companies that participate in the Sapromil program in Spain, and has public job offers for positions as "SOC/ground operator", who must perform operational support management tasks and" prove experience in security tasks and responsibility in sensitive countries with hostile environments", or as"cyber operations manager".

Another of the companies that are part of Sapromil in Spain and that publish job offers for military personnel is Applus+, one of the world's leading companies in the inspection, testing and certification sector, as announced in their channels.

Applus + operates in Spain through the Automotive, Energy and Industry, IDIADA and Laboratories divisions, and has several job offers for Armed Forces personnel: firm management technician, solar structure assembly supervisor, waste characterizer and verification and energy recovery technician, with salary and contract according to agreement, "less than 20,000 euros adjustable depending on the profile".

The Military Friendly (MF) evaluates employers on specialized criteria each year to determine which companies offer the best opportunities for service members.

On its 2021 employer list is Tesla, the American electric car and solar company led by Elon Musk.

Nestlé, a multinational company focused on the food and beverage industry, also has the Military Friendly seal this year.

"Whether the [military] service members are in transition or retired, or are members of our National Guard and Reserves or a military spouse, their service is valued here. At Nestlé we are committed to the military community," the company explains on its website.

G4S

G4S announces itself on its channels as a world leader in security services and solutions, and is one of the companies that hire military personnel worldwide, in this case based in London.

Its focus on security makes it a natural destination for military personnel. In fact, they have positions in which one of the requirements is to have experience in "active military service, military reserves or National Guard", as they publish in the job post of security officer.
Verizon

"Verizon's commitment to the military community is reflected in our workforce, which includes more than 10,000 veterans who bring their skills across our company. For three consecutive years, we have been the number 1 company in 'Military Friendly', " explains the company, which is associated with several military support organizations in the United States.

With a gold medal in 2021 from the MF organization, Verizon is one of the largest providers of technology, communication and entertainment products and services.

Hilton, a leading global hotel company, is also named gold among the top military employers, according to MF.

The company has hired more than 30,000 military veterans, spouses and dependents over the past 6 years through its own military hiring initiative, 'Operation: Opportunity'. "With shared values like leadership, integrity and teamwork, veterans, spouses, caregivers and dependents fit naturally into Hilton," the website says.

AT & T

The U.S. company AT & T, a conglomerate of companies in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors, is also listed on Military Friendly's list of Military Friendly employers in 2021.
