100 smokers alcohol poisoning deaths yearly - In the Kursk region over the past year, 100 people died from acute poisoning with alcohol-containing products. This "DDD" was reported in the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor.

In total, 608 smokers got into hospitals with alcohol poisoning. This is almost a third less than a year earlier.

According to the results of laboratory studies of samples of alcoholic beverages that are on legal sale, no violations were detected. The cause of poisoning in most cases was called excessive consumption of ethyl alcohol.

This year's statistics are not happy either. On New Year's holidays, more than 140 people were hospitalized in a state of intoxication in the hospitals of the Kursk region. Of these, 15 with alcohol poisoning, one person died. This was reported by the Deputy Governor of the Kursk region Irina Khmelevskaya.

According to the World Health Organization, alcohol abuse is one of the leading causes of death in frequency.

The United Nations has published a draft Convention on Biological Diversity, which indicates that our planet has entered the sixth era of mass extinction. By 2030, people need to reduce atmospheric pollution by at least half in order to save that wildlife that still remains. The text of the document appeared on the UN official website on Wednesday, January 15, reports Today.

The UN noted that the world is facing an “unprecedented pace” of the extinction of various species of flora and fauna, which could result in the extinction of entire ecosystems and serious consequences for the survival of mankind as a species. People have one decade to reduce harmful waste by half and provide a protected status for a third of the earth’s surface, the authors of the convention say.

The text of the document also lists 20 goals for the conservation of the wildlife of the Earth for the next 10 years. Among the main areas: reducing environmental pollution with biocides, plastic waste, as well as the introduction of sustainable development technologies.

The plan should be approved in October 2020 at the UN biodiversity summit, it will be held in China.

By the way, a similar strategy has already been voiced in the past decade. Goals and objectives were determined in 2010 at the summit in Japan, but by 2020, most of them could not be achieved.
